Objectives of the Course

Define the language level of target language, select a poem or a play according to the language level and the age or the class, adapt the selected poem or the part of a play as the language teaching material, present a sample lesson by using the poem or part of a play (micro teaching).

Course Content

The language teaching methods and techniques, Bloom’s taxonomy, selection of literary works, activity design, classroom management.

1.Distinguish and define the language levels and the features of the age groups.
2.Describe what can be taught (via selected short story or a novel chapter) to the class which has a defined language level.
3.Adapt the poem or play part as the language teaching material.
4.Sketch a lesson plan for the defined age group at a particular language level.
5.Present/experiment a sample lesson by the help of his/her lesson plan.
6.Question the sample lesson presentation by relating the language used in the literary work to the everyday language of the target language.
7.Criticize the sample lesson presented by the micro teaching technique.
8.Reconstruct and develop the sample lesson, lesson plan, and the activity design by evaluating the peer criticism.
