The aim of this course is to enable students to define concepts related to curriculum development, explain the concepts of educational programs, curricula, and course schedules. It also aims to cover the fundamentals of curriculum development (philosophical, psychological, economic, subject area, social, individual, historical), approaches to curriculum design, models of curriculum development, planning the curriculum development process, needs assessment approaches in curriculum development, techniques used in needs assessment, elements of educational programs (objectives, content, learning situations, measurement and evaluation), the hierarchical taxonomy of objectives, measurement and evaluation in the curriculum development process, and the historical development of early childhood curriculum development in the world and in Türkiye.
Basic concepts related to curriculum development, the history of the curriculum development process in early childhood education in the world and in Türkiye, educational programs, curricula and lesson plans, Posner's types of programs, elements of educational programs, program designs, needs assessment approaches, Bloom's taxonomy, needs assessment techniques in curriculum development, program evaluation.
