Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is explain to the students about the orthopedic problems and musculoskeletal system injuries; providing to understand the mechanism of these injuries, the situations and activities that can cause injuries, degeneration and disabilities, giving information about protection and prevention of the injuries, disabilities and early degeneration and, providing to use these information by the students for applications.

Course Content

The basic descriptions and the mechanisms of the orthopedics problems and musculoskeletal system injuries; etiologic factors that cause musculoskeletal system injuries and early degeneration; the importance of orthopedic rehabilitation in orthopedic problems and the musculoskeletal system injuries; contents of the protective and preventive physiotherapy concept in orthopedics; advantages of protecting from the orthopedics problems and the musculoskeletal system injuries and its effects on the community health; the role of physiotherapists for prevention of these problems; the methods of protection and prevention; theorical information and practical application about these problems.

Learning Outcomes
1.All graduates can assess and plan physiotherapy and rehabilitation protocols by using quantitative and qualitative principals and concepts in physiotherapy and rehabilitation field.
2.All graduates apply physiotherapy and rehabilitation program by using further level knowledge and skills with in the order of systematically and safely ethic rules; finish or change treatment protocols if necessary
3.All graduates have innovative behavior to protect public health; contribute to produce health politics for the changing and varying necessities on physiotherapy and rehabilitation field.
4.All graduates organize the physiotherapy and rehabilitation services effectively and sufficiently, direct the working processes to go on developing quality and organization function; solve the problems with the evidence based knowledge.
5.All graduates have ability to execute the professional and academic studies independently, have responsibility to work multidisciplinary with other colleagues via effective communication skills as a team worker.

Cold applications used in orthopaedic problems and musculoskeletal system novelties; effect of cryokinetics and application times
Week 3 - Theoretical
Hydrotherapy and aquatherapy applications in orthopedic rehabilitation
Week 4 - Theoretical
Spa applications and types used in orthopedic problems

Use effectiveness of mud baths and paraffin applications in orthopaedic cases
