Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach pre-service teachers the methods and techniques that will enable them to teach communicative language skills in a lesson plan and integrally.

Course Content

This course covers topics that will enable teacher candidates to teach communicative language skills in a lesson plan integrally, to learn teaching methods and techniques; how to integrate reading, speaking, listening and writing skills into a lesson plan especially in adolescents and adults; if included in the course objectives, focuses on how to integrate language elements such as grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation into such skills-based lesson plan.

Learning Outcomes

1.	Students will be able to define how communicative language skills can be taught integrally.
2.	Students will be able to prepare lesson plans to teach language skills for adolescent and adult age groups.
3.	Students will be able to understand how grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation can be presented with other language skills.
4.	Pre-service teachers will be able to prepare exercises and experimental studies to enable students to use the language in a more realistic way.
5.	Teacher candidates will be able to differentiate between the strategies students will need while teaching their language skills.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents

Week 1 - Theoretical

To teach communicative language skills ın an ıntegrated manner according to CEFR.

Week 2 - Theoretical

To teach integrated language skills to different level classes.

Week 3 - Theoretical

Introducing the methods and techniques for integrating communicative language skills.

Week 4 - Theoretical

Preparing a lesson plan for the integrated teaching of communicative language skills.

Week 5 - Theoretical

Explaining how to integrate reading, speaking, listening and writing skills into a lesson plan especially in adolescents and adults.

Week 6 - Theoretical

Evaluation of how grammar and vocabulary instruction should be integrated into a skill-based lesson plan.

Week 7 - Theoretical

To discuss how to integrate the teaching of pronunciation into the skill-based lesson plan and to evaluate the problems and solutions encountered in teaching pronunciation

Week 8 - Theoretical

To discuss how to integrate the teaching of pronunciation into the skill-based lesson plan and to evaluate the problems and solutions encountered in teaching pronunciation (Mid Term Examination)
