Objectives of the Course

To read English texts of various genres; to write a paragraph/short text about their emotions, thoughts, suggestions and wishes on a related topic in accordance with the genre conventions; to write a paragraph/short text and give citations/references in line with English academic writing conventions; to use various linguistic structures, words, and discourse markers accurately and appropriately

Paragraph types and structure; paragraph analysis; creating a paragraph outline; writing descriptive, compare-contrast, argumentative, narrative paragraphs; summarization, interpretation, short story, film or book review; (in)formal e-mail/letter writing

Learning Outcomes
1.Applies grammar, spelling, and punctuation rules correctly and effectively in written communication
2.Creates coherent, fluent, and cohesive paragraphs while maintaining the semantic connections between the main idea and supporting ideas.
3.By understanding the structural and formal characteristics of different text types (explanatory, descriptive, argumentative, etc.), produces basic-level texts appropriate for the purpose and target audience.
4.Critically evaluates and revises a text they have produced or one provided by an external source, assessing it for language, stylistic errors, structural coherence, and content consistency.
5.Expresses individual observations, thoughts, and experiences in writing within an original logical framework, avoiding plagiarism and adhering to academic ethical standards.
