Objectives of the Course

While media literacy aims to transform the passive relationship of the individual with mass media into an active one, it aims to strengthen the critical perspective and develop new individual discourses that provide the ability to challenge the specialised structure and traditions of commercial media culture. This course, which brings critical thinking on media texts, is a course that aims to increase the critical approach of students in both the production and consumption stages of their project work.

Course Content

Teaching of basic concepts related to media literacy, examination of the concept of media literacy in sports, media literacy in the world and in Turkey

1.Knows and explains the importance of media literacy, knows the process of media literacy in the world and in Turkey.
2.Knows the communication process, elements and types of communication, explains the relationship between mass media, communication and mass - communication.
3.Knows the functions and economic dimension of the media, knows and explains social media and its environments.
4.Knows how to question news and news sources.
5.Knows and can explain the negative effects of television, TV program analysis and stimulus symbols.
