Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to teach the fundamental rules, technical skills, and game strategies of Darts; to improve hand-eye coordination, attention, concentration, and motor control abilities; and to introduce recreational and competitive dart applications. In addition, the course aims to help students develop an understanding of fair play and apply dart safely.

Course Content

This course covers the history and development of Darts, fundamental rules, equipment knowledge, safety principles, throwing techniques, scoring systems, game strategies, and competition formats. In addition, the course includes practical applications aimed at improving hand-eye coordination, concentration, motor control, and technical performance through individual and group activities.

Weekly Detailed Course Contents
Week 1 - Theoretical & Practice
Introduction to darts, basic concepts, equipment, sections of the dartboard, throwing distance, safety rules, basic game rules, scoring system, and score calculation.
Week 2 - Theoretical & Practice
Basic stance, balance, dart grip, and arm and body positioning.
Week 3 - Theoretical & Practice
Aiming, release, follow-through, basic throwing practices, and correction of common technical errors.
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
The Around the Clock game and throwing practices aimed at different scoring areas of the dartboard.
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
The 301 game, score reduction, and checkout practices.
Week 6 - Theoretical & Practice
The 501 game, checkout rules, checkout combinations, and basic game strategies.
Week 7 - Theoretical & Practice
The Cricket game, number opening and closing rules, and tactical practices.
Week 8 - Theoretical & Practice
Practice of different darts games such as High Score and Shanghai.
Week 9 - Theoretical & Practice
Individual, paired, and team-based darts games.
Week 10 - Theoretical & Practice
Competition rules, officiating, fixture preparation, and scorekeeping practices.
Week 11 - Theoretical & Practice
Individual darts competitions.
Week 12 - Theoretical & Practice
Paired darts competitions.
Week 13 - Theoretical & Practice
Team darts competitions and tournament preparation.
Week 14 - Theoretical & Practice
In-class darts tournament and general competition practices.
