Objectives of the Course

To understand the development and periods of our music, to understand and interact with other music genres within the historical flow of Turkish music.

Course Content

Music elements belonging to Turkish communities living in Central Asia and Anatolia, Turkish mythology, mythological elements in Turkish folk music repertoire, music genres in Turkish states and communities, historical process. the development of Turkish folk music and art music; interaction of different traditions and styles related to music; examination of instruments, composers, performers and sample works.

2. Recognize the Turkish musical instruments, genres, composers and poets.
3.Explain Turkish maqam music with theoretical aspects.
4.Will be able to search and evaluate the sources about Turkish maqam music.
