Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the concepts of human rights and democracy in their historical and universal contexts; to internalize these values in personal and social life; and to equip them with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary to develop fair, ethical, and democratic practices in their future professional roles.

Course Content

In this course, topics such as the historical development of human rights, their fundamental documents, the concept and principles of democracy, guarantees of individual rights and freedoms, human rights violations, democratic citizenship, gender equality, and pluralism are discussed theoretically and practically.

Learning Outcomes
1.Explains the historical development of human rights.
2.Identifies and analyzes fundamental human rights documents (e.g. UDHR, ECHR).
3.Interprets constitutional and international guarantees of individual rights and freedoms.
4.Describes the concept and principles of democracy; compares them with other forms of governance.
5.Develops awareness of democratic citizenship, participation, and social responsibility.
6.It adopts and disseminates the culture of respect for diversity and differences.
7.Develops solutions for problems based on human rights principles.
8.Follows current developments related to human rights and democracy and evaluates them critically.
9.Evaluates human rights violations through examples and develops a critical perspective.
10.Integrates human rights and democratic values into professional practice; fosters an ethical, fair, and inclusive work environment while safeguarding individual rights and acting with a strong sense of social responsibility.
