Objectives of the Course

To examine the relationship between migration, social mobility, and the media from both theoretical and practical perspectives, and to understand how the phenomenon of migration is represented in traditional media, digital media, and social media.

Course Content

The concept of migration, social mobility, media representations, discourses on refugees and migrants, diaspora, digital media, social media platforms, the formation of public opinion, hate speech, ethical issues, and the analysis of media content on migration.

1.Explains the concepts of migration and social mobility in the context of media and communication studies.
2.It analyzes representations of migrants, refugees, and the diaspora in the media from a critical perspective.
3.We can discuss the ways in which migration, identity, and belonging are constructed in digital media environments
4.Can evaluate the discourse, framing, and representation strategies used in migration news and digital content.
5.By understanding the ethical issues surrounding the relationship between migration and the media, they can develop a draft for academic research and a presentation.
