Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to develop students’ knowledge and skills related to academic reading and writing processes, and to enable them to access scientific resources, critically evaluate academic texts, produce academic writings in accordance with scientific writing rules, and effectively present research findings in written and oral forms.

Course Content

This course covers the fundamental principles of academic reading and writing, access to scientific information, literature review techniques, and academic ethics. Students develop skills in critically reading, summarizing, interpreting, and evaluating academic texts. In addition, the course includes practices related to writing scientific articles, theses, and reports, citation and referencing methods, academic language usage, and the effective presentation of research findings.

1.Explains the fundamental principles of academic reading and writing and distinguishes between different types of scientific texts.
2.Develops skills in accessing scientific sources, conducting literature reviews, and critically evaluating information.
3.Summarizes, paraphrases, and rephrases academic texts in accordance with academic language conventions.
4.Uses citation systems such as APA to correctly reference academic sources.
5.Prepares and presents research findings in accordance with academic writing standards in written and oral formats.
