The aim of this course is to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the scientific research process, enable them to develop research problems, gain skills in accessing and evaluating scientific literature, and prepare scientific texts in accordance with academic writing standards. The course aims to develop students’ competencies in preparing the main sections of a scientific article (title, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion), applying the principles of research and publication ethics, understanding the scientific publishing process, and using artificial intelligence-supported tools for research and academic writing in an ethical and effective manner.
This course covers the fundamental concepts of scientific research, identification of research problems, hypothesis development, literature search techniques, the use of scientific databases, and principles of academic writing. The course includes the preparation of the main sections of a scientific article (title, abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion), principles of table and figure preparation, referencing methods, research and publication ethics, plagiarism prevention, ethics committee procedures, and scientific publishing. In addition, students are introduced to the ethical and effective use of artificial intelligence-supported tools for research and academic writing. By the end of the course, students are expected to acquire the skills necessary to plan, conduct, and report scientific research and academic writing projects.
