Objectives of the Course

The aim of the course; To provide students with the knowledge to explain the ergogenic aids used in sports and their areas of use, and to organize a nutrition program for training and competition periods, taking into account the characteristics of the sports branch.

Course Content

Course content; It covers body composition and weight balance of athletes, energy/macro-micronutrient requirements, nutrition in training, ergogenic aid, sports and nutrition in special cases.

5.Organizes a nutrition program for training and competition periods, taking into account the characteristics of the sports branch.

Week 1 - Theoretical
General nutrition principles, energy sources for muscle and exercise metabolism, healthy nutrition for fitness and sports, nutrition sources for athletes
Week 2 - Theoretical
Essential nutrients (carbohydrate, protein and fat)
Week 3 - Theoretical
Fluid balance and requirement, electrolytes, heat regulation methods
Week 4 - Theoretical
Auxiliary nutrients, vitamins (organic regulators) and minerals (inorganic regulators), essential minerals and trace minerals
Week 5 - Theoretical
Nutritional supplements (ergogenic aids), evaluation of supplements for sports
Week 6 - Theoretical
High performance nutritional effects, absorption and digestion
Week 7 - Theoretical
Timing of fluid intake and energy
Week 8 - Theoretical
Midterm exam preparation studies

Nutritional plans for athletes (strength and endurance sports); Student presentations

Adequate distribution of oxygen, nutrient use, and energy constraints

Conditions that affect nutritional needs (travel, high altitude, gender, age, body composition and weight), weight gain and loss with appropriate nutrition and exercise

Nutritional strategies for energy systems (anaerobic metabolism for high-intensity explosiveness and power, aerobic metabolism for endurance)

Eating disorders and nutrition and immune system in athletes
