Objectives of the Course

Economic policies implemented during the Republican period, the process of integration within the global economy, the problems and opportunuties during this period will be studied.

Course Content

Global economy, national economy, their relations, international economic institutions; their roles and missions, the impacts of these institutions on national economies.

Introduction, information about the course, responsibilities, exams, home-works, final exam will be explained to the student

Ottoman economy from the 18th century till the 1st world war

The economic policy implented during the1st WW, nationalist reaction,initiatives to form national bourgeoisie

Week 4 - Theoretical

1923-1929:Foundation years of the Turkish Republic, economic policy during these years, decisions and approaches

Week 5 - Theoretical

1930 s World economic crisis, protectionist, statist period.

Week 6 - Theoretical

The new world order established after the 2nd WW, th new economic order, integration within the new world system, formation of the international institutions, their missions and functions.

Week 7 - Theoretical

Planned, import-substitution industrialization, the period from 1960s to 1980s.
