To maximise physical performance, to examine the body’s energy systems, cellular adaptation processes and fatigue mechanisms, and to be able to analyse aerobic and anaerobic capacity and recovery dynamics.
To maximise physical performance, the body’s energy systems, cellular adaptation processes and fatigue mechanisms are examined; aerobic and anaerobic capacity and recovery dynamics are analysed; the fundamentals and classification of endurance are covered; and the physiological adaptations associated with endurance are examined.
| 1. | Understands the functioning of the cardiorespiratory system and energy production mechanisms (aerobic and anaerobic). |
| 2. | Can explain the causes of central and peripheral fatigue (lactic acid build-up, glycogen depletion, electrolyte imbalance, etc.). |
| 3. | They can design and implement endurance training programmes tailored to different sports. |
| 4. | It can assess the adaptive responses of skeletal muscle and the nervous system to long-term endurance exercise. |
| 5. | They can correctly administer and interpret the screening and field tests required to measure athletes’ fatigue thresholds and endurance capacity. |
