This course aims to examine the psychological foundations of parenting and parent-child relationships, the effects of these relationships on child development, and strategies for establishing healthy parent-child relationships.
Within the scope of this course, students will address topics such as individuals' transition processes to parenthood, motherhood and fatherhood, family systems, parental well-being, parenting styles, dynamic relationships between parenting and child development, the effects of cultural differences on parenting, and parenting challenges in modern society. Additionally, emphasis will be placed on evidence-based strategies and interventions to strengthen parent-child relationships and support children's psychosocial development.
| 1. | Students will be able to understand the basic theoretical approaches regarding parenting and parent-child relationships and the historical development of these theories. |
| 2. | Students will be able to analyze the effects of parenting practices on children's social and emotional development and evaluate these effects in the light of contemporary research. |
| 3. | Students will be able to describe parenting strategies that help children develop their skills in understanding, expressing and regulating emotions and the theoretical knowledge that underpins these strategies. |
