Objectives of the Course

This course aims to comprehensively examine the clinical findings observed in individuals with swallowing disorders and the methods used to assess swallowing function. Within this course, students will gain knowledge about swallowing anatomy and physiology, the etiology of swallowing disorders, clinical assessment methods, screening tests, standardized measurement tools, and instrumental assessment methods; they will be able to interpret the assessment findings and use these findings in clinical decision-making processes.

Course Content

This project and research encompasses the evaluation of signs and symptoms in individuals with swallowing disorders, clinical swallowing assessment and its stages, oral motor assessment, swallowing screening tests, standardized assessment tools, videofluoroscopic swallowing study (VFSS), and fiberoptic endoscopic swallowing study (FEES), as well as the evaluation and interpretation of findings obtained through these methods.
