Objectives of the Course

The main objective of this course is to teach the students the botanical, physiological and biochemical aspects of flower bulbs, and to comprehend the growing, propagating, and breeding of ornamental bulbs used as potted ornamental plants, seasonal plants and cut flowers which have economic importance.

Course Content

Definition of ornamental plants with bulbs and cords, classification of them, biological characteristics, botanical and physiological aspects of flower bulbs, biochemical contents, propagation and growing techniques, factors affecting flower bulb enlargement and blooming, disease and pests, physiological disorders, economical importance of bulbs.
