Objectives of the Course

At the end of this course, students will comprehend interrelation of agricultural development and economic development and will have the ability to create consistent development strategies by realizing the effects of existing developments on environment, consumer and farmer.

Course Content

The History of Agricultural Development and Agricultural Systems ( industrial agriculture, sustainable agriculture, organic agriculture, permaculture ), Development Theories and Agriculture, International Relations and Agriculture, Land Reform Experiences in the World and Turkey, Bio-diversity and Seed Issue in Agriculture, Food Sovereignty, Food Security, Food Safety, Monopolization in Agriculture and its effects, Underdevelopment and Countryside, Famine in the World and Ireland, China Hunger Incidents, Global Climate Change and Agriculture.

Learning Outcomes
1.To be able to comprehend the results of the existing and future developments which take place in general economy and agriculture in Turkey and in the World.
2.To be able to have the ability to forecast how global development affects all rounds of agriculture.
3.To be able to have the attitude and ability to comprehend global and domestic economic, social, legal, technological, ecologic developments effects on rural region and consumers with their concurrently and interrelation interactions.
4.To learn development theories and agricultural development practices
5.Food sovereignty, food security, food safety and the definition of the world and understand the impact of changes in dietary system in Turkey
