Objectives of the Course

The aim is to provide students with advanced knowledge regarding the planning and management of dairy cattle enterprises, and to equip them with the skills to evaluate and interpret—using scientific methods—the genetic, nutritional, reproductive, herd health, animal welfare, environmental sustainability, and economic factors affecting milk production, and to develop effective management strategies accordingly.

Course Content

Current scientific approaches regarding rearing, feeding, reproduction, milking management, herd health, milk quality, animal welfare, record-keeping systems, performance analysis, precision livestock farming practices, economic management, and sustainable milk production systems in dairy farming operations are examined.
