Week 1 - Theoretical & Practice
The importance and history of artificial insemination in honey bees
Week 2 - Theoretical & Practice
Artificial insemination versus natural mating (sperm count, colony performance, lifespan, spawning success, spawning initiation, pheromone production)
Week 3 - Theoretical & Practice
Structure and functions of reproductive organs (Queen bee reproductive organs, male reproductive organs, eversion and ejaculation, drone semen)
Week 4 - Theoretical & Practice
Mating behavior (weather conditions, flight distance, mating frequency, number and duration of mating flights, drone gathering area, mating act, sperm storage)
Week 5 - Theoretical & Practice
Artificial insemination equipment (artificial insemination device, stereomicroscope, anesthesia device) Demonstration and adjustment of artificial insemination equipment, stereomicroscope and anesthesia mechanism.
