Objectives of the Course

To give a point of view to clinical psychology graduate students to learn basic concepts and theoretical approaches helping students to comprehend individuals in the context of relationship of social surroundings and how to utilise these conceptions to approach individuals by comparing concepts of individual psychology and social psychology.

Course Content

The interface of social and clinical psychology, social cognitive construction of reality, self, identity, impression formation, causal attributions, social roles, beliefs, life-satisfaction, social support and happiness.

1.Distinguish the differences between the perspectives of social psychology and clinical psychology.
2.Uses the perspective of social and clinical psychology in dealing with the individual.
3.Knows the concepts of social cognition and uses it when dealing with the individual
4.To be able to deal with the concept of self and related issues from a social psychological perspective.
5.Understands the social nature of emotions.
6.Knows and explains the relationship between interpersonal relationships and mental health problems.
