The department of virology was separated from the department of microbiology in 2006. In 2008-2009 Educational Term, The Master of Science Degree (MS.C. Program) in virology was started within ADU Institute of Health Sciences. There are three academic staff at present; Assoc. Prof. M. Tolga TAN, Asst. Prof. Nural EROL, Res. Asst. B. Taylan KOÇ. The Head of Virology Department is Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Tolga TAN.
History

Mission
SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH is oriented to the study of interactions between hosts and viruses responsible for animal or zoonotic diseases, extending from basic towards medical and clinical virology subjects.
EDUCATION ACTIVITIES concern undergraduate students (general virology, animal viral diseases), graduate students (molecular virology) and continuing education programmes for veterinary practitioners (animal and zoonotic viral diseases).

The faculty of this unique and multidisciplinary department strive to attain excellence in teaching and scholarship in veterinary virology.

The basic aim of department is to attain excellence in teaching and scholarship in veterinary virology.
Physical Infrastructure
There are 4 Laboratory in department of virology and also be able to use facilities of central research lab of ADU.
Technical Infrastructure
There are, 1 routine diagnosis and serology, 1 molecular, 1 steril and 1 nonsteril cell culture laboratories, 1 centrifuge with refrigator, 1 fridges, 1 deep-freeze frgidges, 1 inverted microscope, 1 Thermal cycler, 1 dry air sterilizator, 1 sterile cabinet, 1 pH meter, 1 hot water ben mari, 1 computer, 1 incubator, 1 distilled water machine, 1, vortex, 1 magnetic shaker and, 1 thermal block heater found in department of Virology.
