Objectives of the Course

The course of the 20th century, the prevailing theories of democracy, a historical perspective and the scope and limits of democracy and civic activity within the framework aims to evaluate the models put forward by the different viewpoints.

Course Content

This course discusses the relationship of democracy and citizen participation, active participation of citizens in political processes and theories of deliberative democracy which focuses on the theory's emphasis on the communicative processes. Developments in the present political system in the 1900s are discussed, since the transition to multi-party political life, political parties, socio-cultural dynamics, the main political forces, civil society development and discusses issues such as democratic consolidation.
