Objectives of the Course

It is a comprehensive way of conveying the relationship between local politics and democracy in various ways. The history of local politics, its development, its relation to democracy, the different institutions that exemplify the relationship between local politics and democracy, and the situation of the city in this context are some of the topics.

Course Content

Within the scope of this course, the study of different models of democracy in the context of political participation and the explanations of participatory democracy from here on; the establishment of the relationship between local governments and (democratic) participatory democracy and the examination of the role and importance of local governments in the development of participatory political culture; the examination of the implementation of democracies representing local politics, in particular in the process of the establishment of local decision-making organs, and the practice of contributing to the strengthening of political participation in the local democracy.
