Objectives of the Course

The purpose of this course is to enable nurses to know the basic concepts of emergency nursing, the evidence-based care in accordance with the nursing process and how to rapidly evaluate the patient presenting to the emergency room.

Course Content

This course analyzes the importance of teamwork in emergency interventions, powers and legal responsibilities of emergency nurses and how to perform triage in accordance with the professional ethical values.

1.To be able to state the primary and secondary evaluation of the patient presenting to the emergency service, principles of triage and the importance of ethical principles in triage
2.To be able to recognize patients' rights in accordance with the ethical principles of the profession during all the interventions the patient to undergo
3.To be able to recognize the importance of teamwork in emergency interventions
4.To be able to define needed emergencies principles in emergency injury and enviromental emergency situations s
5. To be able to recognize the importance of evidence-based nursing care in emergency situations of chronic diseases (asthma attacks, diabetic ketoacidosis, hypoglycemia, etc.) or acute illness (AMI, ARDS, stroke, etc.)
