Objectives of the Course

Analysing the political and socio-economic transformation of Former Republics of the Socialist Bloc

Course Content

This course examines the transition of the former Soviet states from socialist regimes to the market economy and pluralist democracy.

1.To be able to determine problems of the ex-Soviet Republics in transition to market economy and pluralistic democracy
2.To be able to analyse the Soviet influence on former Soviet republi,cs after their independence
3.To be able to tell about the impact of culture and heritage on the states, individuals and other actors
4. To increase students' general knowledge about post-Soviet geography
5. To enable students to have a comparative analysis perspective.
