Objectives of the Course

To give general information about autonomic nervous system, and to prepare the basis for understanding the drugs related to autonomic nervous system

Course Content

The innervation and activation of these systems by the parasympathetic (cholinergic), sympathetic (adrenergic) and non-adrenergic non-cholinergic (NANK) systems that make up the OSS are different. Drugs that affect OSS may affect the synthesis, storage, release, metabolism of the mediators involved in this system, as well as on receptors stimulated by these mediators or post-receptor events. In this course, the mechanism of action of OSS drugs will be explained by giving examples of drugs acting on these mechanisms.

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Describe the synthesis and metabolism of OSS mediators
2.to compare the effects of OSS mediators on effector organs
3.To compare the effects of parasympathetic and sympathetic activation on systems and organs
4.Interpretation of the effects of increasing or inhibiting the synthesis of mediators
5.To learn the working principles of OSS
