Objectives of the Course

To investigate and analyze Turkish economy in historical and structural perspectives.

Course Content

The economic structure from the last periods of Ottoman Empire to Republic of Turkey. Establishing time period of Republic of Turkey. Etatism period. II. World War period. Social transformation period. Planned development period. The time period between 1960 – 1980. Structural economic transformation period in 1980s. The time periods of 1990s. The role of Turkish economy in the world economy.

1.To be able to comprehend the process of economy policies and the external and internal factors that affect these policies in Turkey
2.To be able to analyse the developments that direct Turkish economy in the context of institutional regulations, numerical data and causality relationships
3.To be able to comprehend the effects of economy policies on social development, national income, distribution, general equilibrium, the relationship with world economy and socio-economic macro indicators
4.To be able to analyse sectors of Turkey and to make political suggestions
5.To be able to use the information about Turkish economy in daily life and to comment on them
