Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to ensure that students learn the basic concepts related to pedestrian spaces, to understand the planning and design principles of pedestrian spaces and to reveal their problems, to examine and discuss current approaches, research and applications in the field of landscape architecture with examples from the world and Turkey, to conduct research using the methods used in current research on spaces such as squares, streets, pedestrian zones, etc. and to discuss their results.

Course Content

The course content includes definitions and concepts related to pedestrian spaces and the importance of the subject, classifications related to the subject, the relationship between public open spaces and pedestrians, the pedestrianization movement, the historical development of pedestrian spaces, planning and design principles, and the examination and discussion of examples from our country and other countries.
