Objectives of the Course

The aim of this course is to study fundamental concepts and principles in various fields of linguistics which have to be taken into account regarding the analysis of language phenomena

1.Recognize the theories concerning the structure of language and its functions,
2.Identify the phonological, morphological, syntactic and semantic levels in language
3.Compare structuralist and generativist approaches to linguistics,
4.When a student completes this course, he/she will recognize introduce mainly Chomsky, basic theory and theorists in 20th century linguistics.
5.The student understands the relationship between linguistics and Turkish languages at a basic level.
