Objectives of the Course

Main purpose is to analyze the basic tenets of Ottoman economic thought , social structure and evaluate features of Ottoman identity.

Course Content

Ottoman social structure and life, the ruling class and the ruled, Ottoman society with respect to religion, social movements.

2.To be able to evaluate the Ottoman identity and mentality in addition to the relationship of ruler-ruled.
3.To be able to analyze the reflections of bureaucratic state structure into economy and society.
4.To be able to define Ottoman culture and identity as a superior culture.
5.Analyses the Ottoman society in socio-economic aspect.
