Objectives of the Course

The main aims of the lecture are to provide students with a knowledge in order to make them be able to understand and grasp the development of women's movement, the development of feminist theory and to learn different feminist approaches towards gender issues. In addition one of the main objective is to provide students with an ability to analyse and discuss traditional womenhood, manhood, history, science and sociological explanations from a gender perspective.

Course Content

Key conceptes and theories; the development of feminist thought since 18th century; the concept of patriarchy and debates; Feminist theory, modernism and gender; Post-modern feminism; General debates on feminist methodology and feminist research
