Objectives of the Course

To gain the ability to learn sociological aspects of major religious movements in Turkey with structural analysis, structural analysis, leader and supporter profiles, and to evaluate sociological viewpoints of similar formations from the current movement.

Course Content

Religious schools in Turkey; predecessor currents; religious radicalizations and the characteristics, social dynamics and structures of groups.

1. To explain the reasons for the birth of religious movements in Turkey.
2.To analyze the structural features of religious movements.
3.To learn about the leaders and supporters of religious movements.
4.To discuss the processes of sectarianization and congregation.
5.To gain a sociological perspective in order to be able to analyze other religious movements.
6.To establish relations of movements with political and social events.
