In this course, the issues of how the human body, health and illness are fictionalized in modern societies unlike previous periods and the critical approaches to the production of the modern medical knowledge and health practices will be discussed in the context of capitalism, class inequalities and power relations.
In this way, especially it’s aimed at query the commercialized/corporatized understanding of health services and the health practices that slides from patient-doctor relations to client-vendor in today’s World. In this context. current sociological analysis will be carried out regarding with issues such as health systems, medical genocide, corporatized medicine, physical control, bio-power and bio-ethics.
