Objectives of the Course

To concentrate on and evaluate three dialogues of Plato (Politeia (state), Politikos (Statesman), and Nomoi (Laws)). by a questioning and analytical approach.

In this course the works of Plato are examined and the features essential to his mature and old periods are determined.

1.Recognition of Plato's philosophical approach and presentation of his method of reasoning.
2.Starting from Plato's ideas, a solid understanding about historical and philosophical foundations of Western philosophy is developed.
3.To know the main lines of Plato's philosophy.
4.The acquisition of the ability of reading, understanding and interpretation of the original text of Plato.
5.Development of proper and correct use of Plato's terminology.
