The main focus of this course is on designing rigid pavement structures for highway and airport situations, with specific emphasis on highways.
Analysis, behavior, performance, and structural design of rigid pavement systems. Topics include climate factors, rehabilitation, life cycle design economics, material and system response, pavement foundations and traffic loadings. Evaluation and application of current and evolving rigid pavement design practices and procedures. Explain the underlying mechanisms associate with load and material related distresses.
| Assoc. Prof. Ayhan Öner YÜCEL |
| 1. | Explain the difference between structural performance of a pavement and functional performance. |
| 2. | Identify distress types common to rigid pavements. |
| 3. | Explain the underlying mechanisms associate with load and material related distresses. |
| 4. | Convert mixed traffic into an equivalent single axle load for rigid pavement systems. |
| 5. | Design sustainable rigid pavements to address the various distress mechanisms. |
