Objectives of this course are: Understanding the student light matter interaction and having the students ability to investigate different optical materials by using theory.
Electromagnetic waves in matter, dipole radiation, optical conductivity, optical activity, Faraday /Kerr (rotation) effect, optical properties of the semiconductors, intraband and interband optical transitions, vibrations of molecules and the solids, light phonon interaction, nonlinear optics.
