Objectives of the Course

With the content of this course, it is aimed to examine the Turkish music repertoire by evaluating it in the historical process, to determine the sources of the diversified genres in the Turkish music repertoire, to be able to interpret the productions and performances in the historical process comparatively based on the repertoire samples determined.

Course Content

With a historical approach; Examining the works in the Turkish music repertoire, periodical performance features, techniques used by the composers, the style and mode characteristics of the works, the form and genre characteristics, knowing the sources of the repertoire, examining the samples from the sensory and visual recordings of the representatives of the traditional performance, which are widely known in the field, the Ottoman Turkish lyrics that make up the lyrics of the sample works. Analysis of Persian and/or Arabic lyrics constitute the content of the repertoire course.
