Graduates of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition Department can work in the public and private sectors as Agricultural Engineers. If they pass the necessary exams, they can work as graduate engineers in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, DSI, Provincial and District Directorates of Agriculture, Municipalities and Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, as well as in fertilizer, pesticide, seed, organic agriculture, soil-water-fertilizer laboratories and certification in the private sector. they have the opportunity to work on such subjects. They will also have the right to work as agricultural consultancy and food control (bakery, patisserie, etc.).
History
The Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition was established in 1992, and has been providing education at undergraduate level in 1999-2000, at undergraduate level in 2003-2004 academic year, and at doctorate level since 2009-2010.
Mission
The Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition aims to train engineers who are equipped with contemporary and practical knowledge in their field of study, have advanced problem-solving skills, have the professional knowledge and experience and communication skills to be able to lead their environment; It has undertaken to fulfill its obligation to serve the society by carrying out its research and application functions, to reach and disseminate information for the development and welfare of its nation.
Vision
To be an institution that is recognized and demanded on a national scale with the individuals it grows, and that is compatible with international norms in the field of soil science and plant nutrition with its education system and content.
Purpose
In the master's program, our students are trained on what to pay attention to when determining the research topic, how to plan a research, how to conduct a research and how to evaluate the results, as well as being able to develop more scientifically in an area of interest. In addition, what features a scientific thesis should have, how to write a scientific article and techniques to benefit from scientific publications in the world are taught. As a result, students graduate as modern, hardworking engineers who seek solutions to problems.
Physical Infrastructure
Adnan Menderes University Faculty of Agriculture, Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition, besides 12 offices reserved for the use of academic staff, 6 laboratories (Student and Farmer Analysis Laboratory, Soil Physics Laboratory, Remote Sensing Laboratory, Soil Microbiology Laboratory, Soil Physiology Laboratory, Plant Nutrition and Soil Fertility Laboratory) There are 1 ICP-OES room, 1 AAS room, 2 incineration rooms (microwave incineration and wet incineration), 1 soil preparation room, 1 laboratory climatization room, 1 greenhouse and 1 sieve house. There is a meeting room and a graduate student room belonging to the department. In addition, the research and application farm land of the faculty and the classrooms in the common use of the faculty are allocated according to the needs.
