Objectives of the Course

Sampling techniques of water, chemicals contents of water, some factors determining water quality such as physical (taste, smell, colors vs) and chemical (pH, EC, anions, cat ions, properties , hardness, micro elements and boron contents. Salinity and boron classification of irrigation waters. Determination of possible amelioration methods of water caused salinity, alkalinity, boron problems in soils.

Course Content

Important physical properties of water, irrigation water quality properties of pH, total concentration of soluble salts, electrical conductivity, cations, anions, trace elements and boron, the classification of irrigation waters, rivers and lakes in Turkey, the general characteristics of the measures to be taken against water pollution

1.To be able to identify the general characteristics of water and the factors that affected the quality of irrigation water.
2.To be able to analyse the quality of irrigation water and to evaluate the results of the analysis
3.To be able to prepare a report on irrigation water, to interpret the results and to give recommendations
4.To be able to interpret the quality of water in Turkey
5.To be able to analyse the quality of irrigation water for soil fertility.
