Objectives of the Course

After giving information about the formation and the crystal structure of clay minerals, discussing the effects of clay minerals on the soil physical and chemical properties in order to evaluate their importance in agricultural and technological point of view.

Course Content

Clay minerals, the formation of clay minerals, crystal systems, silicate and clay mineral structures, the classification of clay minerals and determination methods, infrared absorption spectroscopy, ion exchange in soil, clay minerals and water systems, the reactions of clay minerals, clay minerals other features.
