Masters of Arts Programme in Philosophy consists of 4, PhD. programme 8 semesters. The langulage of instruction in the programmes is Turkish. The department, which started postgraduate education in 2010, offers a M.A. programme which allows concentration in the following core areas of philosophy; Systematic Philosophy and Logic, History of Philosophy, History of Turkish Islamic Thought and History of Science. In our department, there are six faculty members and five research assistants who are competent in their area of proficiency.
History
Philosophy Department was founded in 1992 started teaching and reasearch in Fall 2006-2007 as an undergraduate department with 30 students. By 2017 our department continues education with 252 undergraduate students. Upon the acceptance of the application for graduate programme in 2010, our department began master's education with 7 students in 2010-2011 academic year , still continues education with 23 students and also offers joint PhD. Programme with Pamukkale University Philosophy Department since 2011. There are 4 active PhD. students right in 2017. The department expects to give first PhD. graduates by 2019.
Mission
The educational mission of our department is to bring up thinkers endowed with systematic and critical thinking and research abilities, having comprehensive philosophical knowledge who are respectful to ethical values and can contribution to the wellbeing of society.
Vision
The vision of our department is being a leading center for postgraduate philosophy education in Turkey.
Purpose
The objectives of our department are: to raise awareness about the requirement of philosophy in both private and public life, most particularly in the scientific research, to educate people and citizens on acting “reasonably” and ethically, to attract attention on human rights and their significance, to indicate our ability for creating a more humane world and as well as to contribute to the development of our country by philosophy.
Physical Infrastructure
The department has one meeting room with library for graduate studies. Main library and computer labs are also available for the usage of students.
