Objectives of the Course

To give information about somaclonal variations that can occur in in vitro cell and tissue culture. To give information about causes of somaclonal variation and its role in the formation of resistant genotypes in plant breeding.

Course Content

To give information about the definition of somaclonal variation and epigenetic variation, somaclonal variations in in vitro cell and tissue culture, methods of determining somaclonal variations, in vitro selection methods and somaclonal variations in chimeras. Importance of somaclonal variations in plant breeding.
