Objectives of the Course

In this course, the change and diversity in the meanings attributed to the concept of diaspora in the historical process will be discussed and theoretical discussions on diasporas will be conveyed.

Course Content

Within the scope of this course, diaspora theories produced by centered on the diaspora-host state-homeland state relationship triangle will be discussed, and various diasporic communities will be analyzed in a comparative way.

Learning Outcomes
1.The student will understand that the concept of nationalism should be defined in a plural form, and will have the ability to analyze the conditions that create different nationalisms in a comparative way.
2.The student will have the ability to compare and interpret different theories of nationalism.
3.The student will be able to comprehend the interaction between diaspora and nationalism and will gain the ability to make comparisons between different diasporas.
4.Can conduct research on the political, economic and social consequences of nationalism.
5.Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of nationalism and the nation-state in order to enable them to approach international relations from a wide spectrum.
