Objectives of the Course

Developing style analysis skills within the frame of the creation circumstances of Turkish musical eras and genres.

Course Content

The aesthetic and functional aspects of musical creation, Musical creation behaviors in oral tradition, Musical creation behaviors in literary culture. Secondary oral environments and musical creativity, The usage of musical creation materials (sound element, form, rhythm, lyrics), Oral tradition in Turkish music, The anonymity issues and individual creativity in Turkish art music. Analysis of the examples in Turkish folk and art music in terms of creation features.
