Objectives of the Course

During this course, it is aimed to approach to the bureaucratic phases together with actors in the period of transformation and change, namely in the Ottoman 19th century.

Course Content

Changing position of Ottoman bureaucracy and development of modern bureaucracy in 19th century, Balance and politics in the Ottoman bureaucracy, Modernization in the Ottoman bureaucracy, Centralization starting with Mahmud II and bureaucracy’s power potentials
