Objectives of the Course

This course is designed to introduce and demonstrate methods for evaluating the extent, rate, timing, and fate of nonpoint source (NPS) pollutants in agricultural environment.

Course Content

Hydrology, soil erosion and sedimentation, nitrogen and water quality, phsphorus and water quality impacts, pestisites and water quality impacts, agricultural drainage and water quality

Name of Lecturer(s)
Learning Outcomes
1.Illustrate the major components of the hydrologic cycle and discuss how they influence NPS pollution
2.Recognize and explain the major chemical, physical, and biological processes affecting the rate and transport of nutrients, sediments, pesticides and other pollutants to surface and groundwater.
3.Describe the principal components and requirements of a watershed management plan.
4.Estimate NPS pollution loads
5.Describe monitoring system requirements for NPS pollution assessment.
