Objectives of the Course

The objective of this course is to give information about bacteriophages and typing with phages.

Course Content

General characteristics of bacteriophages. Their classifications. Serological features of bacteriophages. Growth of phages. Infection types of phages. Antigenic conversion. Recombination of phages. Limitations of phage reproduction. Phage integration. Places where bacteriphages can be found and their isolations. Typing of staphylococcus with phages. Typing of E.coli by phages. The other phages. The use of phages and phage vectors in recombinant DNA technology.
