To teach and be aware of importance of thechronic diseases, models of care for chronical diseases, burden of the care giver. To gain general perspective of the importance of chronic diseases, the burden on society and the family. To educate basic principles about the health and care of the elderly and to inform on the chronic care model.
Content will focus on care of common chronic diseases such as hypertension, heart failure, cancer and diabetes. A depression in mental status that may occur with older age can be affect memory and cognitive functions adversely. The main purpose of the care in elderly is to be able to ensure selfcare rather than meet all the requirements.
